SOS 4.1 Client hangs when logging in

Post by kkrishna » Thu Feb 03, 2005 10:52 am

Hi,

Whenever I attempt connecting to my SOS server, the client seems to get stuck . When I try to log in I get the following status messages:

Connecting to <IP>...
Server Sending 128 bit challenge
Using 128 bit encryption to communciate with server
Logging in...

I can ping the SOS server and TelNet to it. Here are the telnet results:

250
Protocol-Version:2.0
Message-ID:00000000
Database Aliases:VSS_Data
Content-Length:95
Key Length:16

¶Zì ╜Γ↕+°╜ë┴↓Iú↕C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\SourceSafe\Developm
ent\srcsafe.ini

---

I suggested elsewhere on the forum, I deleted the local client cache file, installed the client on various machines, but nothing seems to be working.
Its the same problem with all the machines in our team.

The last action that I attempted before this happened was I tried to use the 'change source control' command in Visual Studio .NET 2003.

I was the person who recommended the purchase of this tool to my company, so any early help will be deeply appreciated.

Please help

Your log file shows many errors such as:
2/1/2005 10:13:02 AM - 5: File or project not found (8004d68f)

This usually means that the SourceSafe automation component is having problems getting information from the VSS database.

The first thing I'd suggest is to run Analyze on the database so that any database corruption is taken care of :
