Source Safe Configuration - Best Practice

Post by agatlin » Mon Jan 31, 2005 11:47 am

Our organization is just migrating (and happily) from VSS to Vault. We currently have four distinct VSS environments for 1) Development, 2) Testing, 3) QA, and 4) Production.

We are not sure how Vault should be configured to accomplish a similar objective. We thought perhaps we should use four repositories but are unsure if it is even possible to move folders between repositories.

Could someone please provide some good advice here?

Thank you for your help!

It isn't possible to move folders or files across repositories. See this KB article for details on best practices for setting up repositories:

We do know that other users have similar environments for testing, production, etc. Maybe some of them can chime in here with suggestions.

I am looking to do something similar...2 repositories: one for testing and one for production. I don't know the best way to go about it since you can't move files/folders from one repository to another.

Anyone?

The best advice I can give is to NOT use 2 separate repositories for this use case. Keep them in the same repository and use two folders.
