Can I eradicate a user?

Post by popezilla » Thu Jan 27, 2005 1:13 pm

I know and understand the policy behind not deleting a user, but what about if I know without a doubt that the user has never interacted with the vault?

For example, I mistyped their user id when creating them. So I created another user id properly spelled the next time.

Is there a way to delete the user id?

I would like to know more about this policy (not deleting an existing user). Is it to maintain the consistency of files history? If so can Vault admin tool check if an user is "deletable"?

Me too, I have a few typos and "test" users that I would like to get rid of.

This is also on our todo list - the ability to delete a user who has not had any history entries yet, which should be safe to do.

Note that you can edit a user's name in the Admin tool, so if you misspell something, you can always just update the name. Everything is connected by ID in the database, so updating the name is fairly straightforward.

So, you can also use those misspelled users as new users when you need to create accounts for new users...
