Duplicate Name error adding user

Duplicate Name error adding user

I am trying to get a user working in Vault. They used to have access, but no longer appear as a user. When I try to re-add them in the admin tool, it gives me an error "Duplicate name" "User blah already exists." The user blah (we're concealing his real name to protect him) does not show up in the user listing. What's up?

Is it possible the user had been marked inactive? If so, there is a checkbox near the bottom of the users screen that allows you to see inactive users in the list, which would allow you to edit that user's status.

It was new at some version in the last year, so for the sake of fragile psyche's, yes it was new to you :)
