Server doesn't start

Post by Kirill Osipov /Russia,SPb » Mon Jan 17, 2005 2:12 am

When I start SourceOffSite 4 Server service manually (by the reason the service is stopped though that has a startup type set to ‘Automatic’) then I have got the following error message:

The SourceOffsite 4 Server service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alert Service.

My profile:
- WindowsXP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
- Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz 1,00 GB of RAM
- IIS, ASP.NET, Microsoft.NET Framework v1.1.4322
- Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06

By the reason that’s failed I installed the previous SourceOffSite 3.5.3 Server. That works Ok!? I used the same settings when I configured 3.5.3th and 4th Server but the second one doesn’t start. I tried to find log.tst on my drive to look at Server errors but there are no any created log.txt on my computer for 4th Server. When I installed 3.5.3th Server then I could find ‘log.txt’. So I can take to you only an EventViewer\Application dumb from my computer:

Date: 17.01.2005
Source: SosSvrSvc.net
Time: 10:05:32
Category: None
Type: Error
Event ID: 0
User: N/A

On a side note

On a side note, I'm using Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 and the article listed above (for WinXP SP2) cured the problem for me as well.

Thanks for the report. The service pack was just released, so we haven't done any testing with it yet. I'll add Win2003 sp 1 to the KB article.
