File history request does not respect settings

One of the common actions on our team is to view the history of a file. We have lots of labels from our build process, and want to ignore them MOST of the time. So, what I do is right click, select Show History, go to the actions pane, deselect label, go to the General Pane select "only show this dialog when the shift key is down", then hit ok.

Great, this works, I see only the important changes. However, the problem is that when I close the history, right-click on another file, and select Show History, it's back to the default settings, showing all 189 rows of labeling results for a file with only two versions.

Is there a work around to this, either by changing the default settings, editing a data file, the registry, anything?

There is currently no workaround for this. However, we do have a feature request for the user to define a default query, which would solve the problem for you.

We originally planned to allow users to save history queries and re-run them, but didn't have time to implement it. Suprisingly, this has not really been requested much, so it hasn't been raised in priority.

In any case, I'll add your vote for defining a default query.

Both of those sound like really great things to have. I generally do one of two history queries, "last 7 days" or "everything with no labels" because we have at least one label per day, and they tend to just clutter up the history.

I've often thought about requesting this, but figured that the current behavior (always show everything) was the best thing to do by default, since filtering by anything would confuse people that didn't remember that not everything was being shown.
