Editing Comments

Post by GregM » Fri Jan 07, 2005 12:25 pm

The version details dialog help topic doesn't mention the new "Edit Comment" function. Also, the dialog doesn't respond to F1 to bring up the help file.

Does this function only allow the person who checked in the file edit the comment? If so, then the button should probably be hidden or disabled if a different user brings up the dialog. If not, then it appears there's a bug with the comment editing.

Greg,

Yes, the edit comment buttons should be disabled, except for the user who created that version, and the "admin" user. Are you seeing something else?

I'll add a bug to fix our documentation and key bindings.

Yes, as a different user, I am able to use the Edit Comment button, and can edit the comment in the dialog, but the change is silently discarded when I'm done.

I've reproduced this and fixed it. In 3.0.2, the button will be disabled properly.
