SOS 4.1 hangs when opening solution

Post by robincurry » Thu Jan 06, 2005 1:26 pm

Hi,

We are using SOS 4.1 and VSS 6.0c with 2 licenses.

Anytime 1 user performs a large action such as opening a solution or doing a Get Latest, and the other user is interacting with SOS at the same time, the SOS Server appears to hang.

We have had quite a bit of difficulty with this issue - starting with SOS 4.0.2. We had hoped that upgrading to 4.1 would resolve the problem, but it hasn't. We also tried installing the VSS hotfix as noted here: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=1348.

Attached is the portion of the SOS log.txt file that this last occurred. It got hung twice during this period and we had to restart.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Robin Curry

This looks a lot like the concurrency crash:

1/6/2005 1:03:46 PM - Exception in Listen(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall
at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Accept()
at System.Net.Sockets.TcpListener.AcceptSocket()
at ClassicService.Listener.Listen()
1/6/2005 1:03:49 PM - ****************************************************

What is the version of VSS ssapi.dll installed on the SOS Server machine? See this post for details on where to locate it.

I'd suggest that you re-register the ssapi.dll (SourceSafe automation component).

Details for doing this are in this post:

Just wanted to provide an update on this.

After reregistering ssapi.dll as suggested we have not experienced any concurrency type issues in over a month.

Thanks for your help!
