Nonexistant version

There are a number of files in vault that say they have a version which they don't actually have. How can we resolve this? We can't check any thing in or out, because there is an error each time that the requested version isn't found. We also can't roll back to an older version. I'm not sure how this happened exactly.

Have you performed a Get Latest with the overwrite option? That would be one thing to try.

Is this happening on just a few clients or all clients?

Where are you looking to determine the version of the file on disk? Are you looking in Vault or at the file properties?
