SOS gets user name wrong

Post by nickflack » Thu May 17, 2007 10:25 am

Look at log below and it appears that SOS is getting the users name wrong. The user name is kluurtsema. VSS truncates that to kluurtse however SOS is looking for a user kluurtsma and thus the user cannot logon.

Any ideas? - Nick

What is the user actually entering on the login screen for SOS?

\\ps.local\pishurlok\uk\Management\VSS\users\kluurtsa\ss.ini
Check this path on the VSS machine. Does the kluurtsa directory exist? Or is the user directory called "kluurtsema"?

Can the user login directly to VSS with no problems?

What language is the user using or what language of the operating system are you using on the Source Offsite Server or VSS machine? Is it English or something else?

The directory is kluurtse\ss.ini since VSS truncates names longer than 8 characters.

YES

I wasn't able to reproduce this. I created a user named kluurtsema, and VSS did create a user directory called kluurtse, but SOS was able to connect.

I'm using SOS 4.2 and the Microsoft Hotfix version of the VSS automation component.

What version of SOS are you using, and what version of the VSS automation component?

Here's how to find out:
