Detect new files to add

Post by Kelvin » Tue Jan 23, 2007 11:04 am

Even though my exclude list contains "*.aps; *.clw; *.config; *.csproj; *.dca; *.dll; *.dsw; *.exe; *.hlp; *.incr; *.ncb; *.opt; *.pdb; *.plg; *.scc; *.suo; *.user; *.vbw; *.webuser" the detect new files list still shows *.ncb *.suo and *.user files.

The Detect New Files to Add dialog will show all the files in the directory that are not in Vault. However, if you click the checkbox on the folder in the Detect New Files to Add dialog, the .suo and .user files will be excluded (not checked).

So the exclusion means the files will be seen in the dialog, but you don't have to uncheck them manually when you want to add the folder.

Note: If you click on the folder again, all files will be checked.

Its not very user friendly, if I exclude a file I do not expect to see it listed. Is there some other reason for doing this?

Since the exclusion is through the admin tool and is global, it affects all users. This gives an individual user the option to override the setting.

I'll log a feature request for excluded files not to show up at all in the dialog.
