Items are "stuck" or orphaned in Pending Change Set

Post by lbauer » Tue Aug 08, 2006 8:05 am

Sometimes items seem to be "stuck" in the pending change set. Select the item in the pending change set, right-click and select Undo to clear the item from the pending change set.

There can be orphaned transactions in the pending change set when an operation fails, then you evoke the operation again and it succeeds.

For example, if you try to rename a checked-out file, the rename will fail, since renames are not allowed on files that are checked out. After the file is checked in and you attempt rename it again, this operation should now succeed.

However, if you had evoked a new rename operation rather than re-commit the rename operation already in the pending change set, that first rename operation would still be sitting in the pending change set. You can remove it by highlighting it and selecting Undo from the context menu.

Note: If an operation fails, the label on the Messages tab in the Vault GUI Client will be bolded. So you might want to keep an eye out for any errors in the messages tab.
