SOS 4.1.2 - PIN support
Hi there,
Users say that pinning is not working correctly in SOS.
We have SOS v4.1.2 with VSS 6.0c (SP6) on a Win2003 Server.
ssapi.dll version is: 6.0.96.4
Thanks
Lee

Further information
Hi,
Here is the scenario:
I am using Visual SourceSafe V6.0c and SourceOffSite v4.1.2 to view the same database. One file has been pinned at version 34 (and has a 'pin' icon in VSS), but the latest version of this file that exists in the database is version 38. In SOS, it says the file's remote verison is '34' which is the 'pinned' version. There is no other indication that this file has been pinned (only if you are aware that the file had been pinned at version 34). Is this the correct behaviour of SOS?
Then I attempt to do a 'get latest version' of this file in both VSS and SOS. Version 34 is downloaded from VSS - which is correct, as it has been pinned at this version. In SOS, it downloads version 38, and not version 34 which is supposed to.
Can this be worked around?
Thank you
Lee

Do you see a pin icon by the file name in the file list? There is no other indication that this file has been pinned (only if you are aware that the file had been pinned at version 34). Is this the correct behaviour of SOS?
The only way I was able to reproduce the behavior you are seeing was if I unchecked "Display Status of Pinned Files" in SOS GUI Client under Tools->Options->View.
Could you send me screenshots of this setting in your client, a screenshot of the file in the file list, and a screenshot of file history showing version 34. You can post them here or email to Linda at SourceGear.com
