Hi,
I have heard that the SOS server needs to run on a single processor PC. Is that true? We would like to install SOS server on a 4 processor PC and don't know whether that is possible (recommended) or not.
Best regards

It is possible to run the SOS Server on a multiple processor machine. However performance may not be as good as on a single processor machine. We've had reports from users who moved to a bigger, faster multiprocessor machine and found that SOS performance was actually reduced. We believe this has something to do with the way the VSS automation component performs on a multiple processor machine. The SOS Server accesses the VSS database through the SourceSafe automation component.
It would be a good idea to try SOS on the new machine to see how it works in your particular environment.
