SourceSafe Import tool testing

I want to test the SourceSafe import tool by using a production SourSafe implementation. If I run the tool and import the SorceSafe data to a separate Vault server will my SourceSafe users loose anything or will they be able to continue to use SorceSafe as normal after the import. This way I can test what will acutually happen before we make the move to Vault.

Running the import against the production VSS DB is not recommended, because the import tool will only import the data as of the time that the import is started. You would be much better serverd by making a backup of your production database and importing that backup. Then you can be very confident that your test import will not cause any errors for your SourceSafe users.
