Checkin fails intermittently

Checkin fails intermittently
Our team is using SourceOffSite version 4.1. The VSS version on the server is 6.0. The server is windows2000 and the client is windows XP. SOS is integrated with Visual Studio 2003. All operations are working normally with one exception. The checkin operation fails intermittently. When the operation fails, there is no error. It appears to the user as if the operation has succeeded. The file no longer appears checked out. However the date of the file is not updated in SOS and the history shows that the changed file doesn't exist in the database. What can be done to remedy this situation?
Intermittent problems can be hard to pin down.
I'd suggest you enable verbose logging for the SOS Server. The next time the checkin doesn't really happen, review the log to see if there are any disconnects or error messages. The SOS Server log file is the log.txt file in the SOS Server directory on the server machine.
You can email a copy to linda at sourcegear.com. Let me know the username and the time in the log the checkin was supposed to have happened.
Be sure to keep an eye on the server log so that it doesn't grow too large. You can periodically stop the server service and delete or backup the log.
