Tiny not important bug + tiny feature request

Post by Jim » Thu Feb 26, 2004 8:06 am

If you have in your status search pane a list of renegade files and choose checkout on a file that is already exclusivly checked out by another user you get "object reference not set to instance of object", rather than "this has been checked out by another user".

The message pane correctly shows this has been checked out by another user error msg. I only tested this briefly but seemed to be reproducable.

And tiny feature request - the checkin dialog appears to have changed from 1.2.3 to 2.0.0.0 to only show those files you have checked out in the tree below where you chose checkout from. (phew). Could we have an option to have it go back to the old display - which I believe was everything you had checked out . The ticks are all ace, its just the number of things displayed there that we would like an option for. About half the team like the new style, and half want the old one back.

Client and server are v2.0.0.0

Thanks
Jim

Thanks for the bug report, it's been logged in our internal bug tracking system.

Your friends may get back the check in functionality they preferred by clicking the "commit" button in the change set view instead of selecting "check in" from the menus. The difference between the commit and check in features is subtle:

Commit Button (In the tool bar in the pending change set)
All items in the pending change set (except files in Needs Merge state) always appear in the dialog. All items in the dialog are checked.

Commit Context Menu Item (In the context menu in the pending change set)
All items in the change set (except files in Needs Merge state) always appear in the dialog. Only the selected change items are checked.

Check In (In the main tool bar, main menu, and context menus)
Only the items related to the selected files (or files within the selected folder, if the selection is a folder) will appear in the dialog. All items in the dialog are checked.
