Upgrading client and server

Post by questjohn » Mon Apr 19, 2021 3:59 pm

We currently have 2 client workstations that connect to the Vault Server with the databases on a separate server.

Workstations:
Windows 7 Professional
Visual Studio 2013
Vault Pro 7.1.0

Vault Server:
Windows Server 2008 R2
Vault Service 5.1.2

Database server
Windows Server 2019
MS SQL 2019

Primary goal is to move the vault server to our new internal webserver which is Windows Server 2019.

As far as I can tell, there is no install of Vault Server on the existing Windows Server 2008 R2. Does that mean I can just copy all the website files to the new server and recreate a new website?

Thanks for that link.

Currently, the vaultpro.log is written to %system%\temp\SGVaultPro. How can I change that to a standard accepted location such as D:\Logs\SourceGear\SGVaultPro? I was able to correct the location the sgvault.log is written.

You can change the log location in the Vault Admin Tool under Admin - Logging.

Thanks,

That has already be done, and the sgvault log is where I have changed it to.

This is the sgvaultpro logs that are still going to the Windows temp directory.

There is no way to modify the location of this particular log file.

Thanks,

How sad.

In this day and age of security and safety concerns, it is STANDARD COMMON practice to ONLY use the %systemroot%\temp folder for TEMPORARY installation use, not for ongoing log files.

There must be a way to change that.

After discussing this further with our dev team, you can specify the location by opening up the VaultPro/web.config file, then look for "LogDirectory" xml attribute. This will allow you to change the location.

I have entered a feature request to be able to do this within the Vault Admin Tool.
