We just encountered a situation similar to what was described in this board last year and bugged as item 13450. Is that bug still open? We're running Vault 7.1.

The item isn't fixed yet though I do have it tentatively scheduled.
The current work around is to get both versions that you want to diff down to your disk, and then diff the two versions on disk.
If you don't have any changes on disk, then select the latest version that you checked in and then the previous version you want to diff against. That will show you the differences between those two.
If the place you branched from hasn't gone further than the branch time, then right-click the item in your main Vault window and diff against any repository file and select the original place you branched from.
