Hi,
Having just installed Vault Professional (ver 6.1.0) onto a new suite of servers; I now wish to move/upgrade our existing database (Fortress Version 1.1.4.18402).
Is it just the case of detaching the old Db, and re-attaching into the new location, then running the install again? Or is there a way to do an 'in-place' move/upgrade?
I've read that this process can take a long time (our current sgvault Db is 30Gb!).
Could you advise the best method to employ?
Thanks
Mick
Upgrade Question
Re: Upgrade Question
When you install Vault server with an existing database, we recommend restoring/attaching the databases to the new SQL Server before you install Vault Server. Is it just the case of detaching the old Db, and re-attaching into the new location, then running the install again? Or is there a way to do an 'in-place' move/upgrade?
The Vault Server installer will upgrade the databases (if installing a new version), create the proper associations between the SQL Database and the Vault Server, and create the necessary permissions and database user.
If you install Vault first, then restore the databases, Vault server won't be able to connect, plus the databases will be an incompatible version.
And -- *Back up your databases* before you start the process.
