IDE client - status does not change in IDE after checkin

Post by luther_miller » Fri Oct 15, 2004 2:56 pm

The last couple of days, whenever I check a file in through the IDE, it appears to work but then the file status in the IDE remains checked out.
If I go to the GUI client, I can look at the status and it is indeed checked in with my revisions, comments, etc.
On the IDE, I can continue to check it in over and over again, but I think only the first one actually checks it it.

The client is 2.0.6
I think the server is 2.0.3

Check whether either the IDE or the Vault client is set to automatically checkout a file after it is checked in (they each have separate settings, I believe). The symptoms sound like this may be the case.

No, its not to set check-out after check-in, or

to keep checked out.
In fact, viewing the status through the Vault client showed that they were in fact checked in.

More mucking around recently has shown that this problem only starts occuring if I have attempted to check a file in or out through the IDE when I am unable to contact the Vault server - e.g., when I am on the subway or something. From that point on, once I am connected to the network again, this problem occurs.

That is strange. Does exiting and re-entering the IDE help any?

In VS, go to Tools->Options->Source Control->General and uncheck the "Display silent checkout command" - that may tell whether VS is actually telling us to checkout the file again. Also, verify the "keep items checked out" is off there too.

None of the checkboxes are checked.
Exiting the IDE and re-entering it does resolve the problem.
