During the installation of the version 2.0.6, the new version is installed; then when the Installer goes to uninstall the previous version, at the stage "unpublishing product features", it fails with the message
Error 1721. There is a problem with this windows installer package, A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
After this message, the installation enters a loop: it apparently tries the uninstallation again (extracting properties... extracting directories...") and ends up with the same errror 1721.
Same (though without the loop) if I merely try to uninstall the Vault from add/remove programs.
The uninstallation log is attached.
I was able to uninstall it successfully after I copied the folder ...\vaultservice\bin from the server to my machine.
Also, some cosmetics: in add/remove programs, the product appears as "sourcegear vault server". If I only installed the client, this is somewhat confusing.

So, if I am understanding you correctly, you were able to get it uninstalled by copying the VaultService/bin directory, correct?
Did you install the Client with the Server installer without installing the Server?
There is a seperate installer for the Vault Client. If you aren't installing the Server on your machine you should use the client installer for installing and upgrading the Client not the Server installer.
However, since it sounds like the client was originally installed with the Server installer, it would need to be un-installed using the Server installer first.
When you install the client via the client installer it will show up as "Vault Client" in Add and Remove programs.
I *thought* the Vault Server was a required program for the Server Intsaller, but I guess there is a way not to install the server if you choose "install only when required". We should look into ways of making the server more required for the server install.
