Upgrading 32bits server install to 64bits

Post by swautier » Tue Nov 29, 2011 1:46 am

Hi,

This is probably a FAQ and I apologize in advance for being lame if the answer is easy to find

I have an existing 32 bits Vault server 5.0.x on Windows 2008 (64 bits).
I wanted to upgrade to the latest version and decided to install the 64 bits version. However, the installer didn't seem to find my existing 32 bits install since it asked me questions about IIS user and so.

Hence the question: Is there a specific procedure to install the 64 bits version on an existing 32 bits installation?

Ouch, wait! I cancelled the 64 bits installation. And now, I can't login the vault server again.

"Unable to connect to http://serveur/VaultService. No server was found at the specified URL. Please verify your network settings using the Options dialog under the Tools menu in the Vault GUI Client. Web Exception: Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'."

Looks like I'm ready for a re-install :(

Forget it...

I hadn't realized that I downloaded the Pro edition instead of te Standard edition.

I installed the 64 bits Standard edition. It did ask me IIS and SqlServer related info then correctly recovered my existing DB.

Client and server are now 5.1.2.19281 and everything looks OK.
