Someone deleted one file from a repository, killing all history with it. We didn't need the file in the project anymore, but I had wanted to save the history of the item (the code got broken out into smaller files).
I have a SQL database backup from before the deletion, but I'm not sure what my options are here for restoring just a single file with its history (if there are any). It seems restoring from a database backup is an all-or-nothing proposition.
Is there anyway to get this file's history back?
Thanks.
David
Someone deleted file - restore options?
Re: Someone deleted file - restore options?
Right-click the folder that the file was deleted from and select Properties. Then click on the deleted items tab. Select the file that was deleted and click Restore.
Files that are Deleted are still present in the database, just in an unviewable state. Files that are Obliterated though are a different story. Obliterated files are permanently removed from the database, and those can only be retrieved by restoring a backup.

Thank you so much. Worked great.
You would have been well within your right to tell me to RTFM, so I appreciate the detailed response.
