I'm successfully using an external software for 'diff/merge' in my office.
But I've found a problem around the Vault client's options.
If I changed an option in my office desktop computer,
the the new values would be applied to my home desktop, too.
This feature is very useful in most cases since I need not set up the same things in every computer.
But this feature has a problem in setting the external software.
In my office computer, the external diff/merge tool is installed in drive c:,
and is installed in drive d: in my home-computer.
Then, if I changed to use in my office, then I have to change the path in my home again..., every day !!!
Also, if I use the vault client in other guy's desktop, then vault client searches the external software although it's not installed in his machine...
IMHO, the diff/merge tool path should be stored in the client-side, not in ths server-side..
Vault Client option (Diff/Merge) is stored in server-side...

Yes, if the Diff/Merge tool is in a different directory or different drive you get an error message that the diff application could not be found. I can see where this can be inconvenient. I'll log a feature request for the Diff/Merge location to be stored on the client side.
One question -- is your Diff\Merge .exe location set as an absolute or relative path in the Options? I reproduced the error message using an absolute path.
