Can't get SOS(4.2) to stick

Post by bkassebaum » Mon Nov 23, 2009 3:12 pm

I am trying to get SourceOffSite 4.2 to work within VS 2005. I have v4.2 of SOS and am running windows 2000 as my OS. What happens is I'll start up Visual Studio, set SourceOffSite as my source control plug in, but then when I open an existing solution, it reverts back to Visual SourceSafe. If I then try to change the source control to SOS again, I get a warning that the solution will need to be closed, I allow it, but the solution never changes. Rinse and repeat.

Any suggestions?

<corrected what it reverts to>

it reverts back to Microsoft Visual Studio
Do you mean it reverts to Visual SourceSafe?

If so, your project probably still has bindings to SourceSafe and needs to be rebound to SourceOffSite.

Choose SourceSafe as your plugin selection in VS, and open your project. Then under File->Source Control, choose Change Source Control. Unbind your project and save all the files in the solution. Close Visual Studio, then reopen your project. It should now be uncontrolled. Change your plugin to SourceOffSite, then choose to Change Source Control again. This time you should get a login to SOS and you can bind your solution to the proper location in VSS.
