Failed to export branches

Post by louis.kwong » Sun Mar 15, 2009 6:22 pm

Using Vault 4.1.3 (18336) on Windows Server 2003 SP1 with MSSQL 2000SP4. We are trying to export some of the older branches out of our repository to see whether we can decrease the load time and boost performance on the Vault client. In our main repository we have around 58 branches, hence that's why we are trying to export some of the branches out of this repository and import them to a new one.

However, our latest attempts on some of the branches have either ended in a session timeout or an error message dialog saying that an error has occurred while reading the latest transaction records.

I can't seem to locate any log files for the Folder Export/Import tool. Please let me know what information you need to investigate the issue.

We'd like to see a copy of the Vault Server log for the time of the export, plus the export log, which would be in the Export Tool directory. The export tool is in the same directory as the Vault client. Send the logs zipped up to support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.

One question we have is whether you obliterated any items in your repository tree that might have history related to the branch. Obliterate can cause exports to fail, because chunks of history are missing
