server name change affect on bindings?

Post by jgentile » Tue Feb 17, 2009 8:49 am

Hi,

We are going to install Vault on a different server with a different name. Could you please tell me if having a differently named server would break any of our Visual Studio 2005 .net bindings?

Yes. Bindings have the source control provider/server name in them. You'd need to unbind, then rebind to the new server name.

Thanks...Is there any way around this? Our server crashed and is being rebuilt with a different name.

When you open your project, it will try to connect to the old servername unless you unbind and rebind it.

I can provide the steps if I know whether you are using the Vault Classic or Enhanced Client integration.
