Integrating SOS 4.1 and 4.2 with Dragnet

Post by corey » Thu Dec 16, 2004 2:39 pm

SourceOffSite 4.1 and 4.2 integrate with Dragnet, SourceGear's new bug tracking product, allowing users to view their open bugs from within the SOS Client and marking bugs as fixed or updated when checking in files. To configure SOS integration with Dragnet, follow the steps below.

1. First, if you're using an earlier version of SOS, such as 4.0 or below, you will need to upgrade to SOS 4.1 or later. Information on SOS 4.2 can be found at: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=6853

2. Download and install Dragnet on a machine within the same LAN as your SOS Server. More information on Dragnet can be found at: http://www.sourcegear.com/dragnet/index.html

3. Launch the SOS Server Manager and select the "General Settings" tab.

- Verify that you have the unsecure port enabled and defined. This port does not need to be opened in the firewall, but must be available for the Dragnet Server to verify SOS usernames and passwords.

- At the bottom of the tab, in the "Bug Tracking" section, enter the URL for your Dragnet Server. For example, if you installed Dragnet to the default location on your SOS Server machine, you would enter: http://localhost/dragnet

4. Exit the SOS Server Manager and restart your SOS Server.

5. Now use your web browser to connect to Dragnet and login as Admin. Select the "Setup" page.

- Under the "SourceCode Control" heading, select SourceOffSite from the dropdown list as your SourceCode Control Provider.

- Enter the server name and port of your SOS Server in the "SourceCodeControl Server URL" field. For example, if your SOS Server is installed on the same machine as your Dragnet Server and the configured unsecure port was 8080, you would enter "localhost:8080".

- If you want Dragnet users to be able to automatically login from SourceOffSite using their SourceOffSite username and password, go to the "Users" page and modify each user, setting their "Authentication" to be SourceOffSite from the dropdown list. Their Dragnet username must match their SOS username.

6. You should now be able to use the SOS Client to view your open Dragnet bugs and to mark bugs fixed when checking in files.

No, these are two entirely different products. Fortress is version control and item tracking. It is similar to Vault and Dragnet, but with enhanced features.
