max file size on Vault ?

Post by kapilm » Tue Dec 14, 2004 9:35 am

Hi,

I am currently using the 30-day trial to check out Vault. Trying to upload a 7-8 MB file in the db. Fails after a couple of retries. Any max size limit on the Vault ?

The Vault initial settings are for 100 MB files, however, this can be modified in the Admin tool. Vault's file size will be restricted to the max file upload in IIS.

As for a 7-8 MB file, that should be no problem. Is there any type of error ( client or server side ), which would help diagnose the problem.

In most upload failure cases, there is a proxy server which is interfering with the file upload. Changing the values in the Vault Client's Network settings to not use chunked encoding ususally solves the problem.

Another source of problems is when uploading large files to a Windows 2003 server. There is a setting on the Vault Virtual Directory called "connection timeout" in the IIS manager which tells IIS the maximum amount of time to wait for an operation to complete. The default for this setting is 120 seconds, which is too low when committing large files.
