Opening a solution file w\out using VSNet -> Open From So

Hello-

I am trying to open a solution for a .Net project using Source Off Site as a source control client. If i open the file via VSnet -> File -> SourceControl -> Open from SourceControl everything works fine.

However, if i follow these steps everything falls apart.

1. Delete all source code
2. Perform a GET from Source Off Site
3. Using Windows Explorer find the Solution.sln file
4. Double Click it.
5. I get an error stating i'm missing some SCC file.

What am i missing? Is there anyway this can work? I used to follow this exact procedeure when using straight Visual Source Safe, and it worked.

When you open a solution from VS.NET, File->Source Control->Open from Source Control, then VS.NET creates the necessary source control files and binds the project to your default source control provider -- SOS in this case.

The next time you open this particular project, you can just open the solution file and it will initialize a connection to SOS, since it's bound to SOS.

However if you get files with the SOS Client, and then open the solution file, there are no source control files nor any bindings, and VS.NET doesn't have any source control information on the project.
