Error 503. The service is unavailable

I have installed Vault Pro 10.

On launching the initial setup page I am greeted with:

Error 503. The service is unavailable

What is the URL in the admin browser's page? Is it valid for the host computer running the Vault Server?

Check your Vault Server's Application Event Viewer for any errors.

Also, check IIS's Application Pools. The Vault 8 install should create some Application Pools related to a variety of Vault services. Are those App Pools running?

Vault Pro has bee running for several years, but went pear-shaped with a recent server update by Microsoft. So I'm confident about the web access but less so about the Vault admin. I suspect there's a problem with authentication within the IIS config.

I did a full re-install of Vault Pro server - very successful without errors. That usually fixes these errors, but it didn't this time.

I need to check your other comments.

Since the problem seems to be related to a Windows update, we recommend checking your Vault Server's Application Event Viewer for any errors (as previously suggested). Along with the 8 Vault App Pools, make sure they are all running.

This is weird.

I'm back up and running, though I'm wondering why.

No significant changes were made to the server or to the SQL Express database.

I repeated what I did yesterday. I de-installed Vault 10 Pro Server. Then I installed it again. And straight away the system is working again.
