Files checked out exclusively without being asked?

I am finding some files being checked out exclusively (by me), even though Vault Options is set not to always request exclusive checkout, and the exclusive checkout option is not set on the checkout dialog. Are there cases where Vault will do an exclusive checkout anyway? (VSS did, for files it considered "binary".)

Any file which Vault deems as binary, will be exclusively checked out.

If the file is indeed a text file, you may want to check the list of mergeable file extensions in the Vault Admin Tool. You can find the setting on the Repository Options tab.

That was it. I'd like to suggest that IDL files be added to the default list.
