Hello,
We moved some items to a different repository using the export/import tool but it didn't include the history.
Is this really the case?
Thank you,
Jan

Re: Export/Import tool does not include history
A Vault Folder Export / Vault Folder Import will include the history of the objects directly exported. That is to say, it will include history on objects existing in the folder / sub-folder being exported. Please note, if the item has origins based in a branch, and you did not include a path that also included the branch, it may not pick up that history. This would also be true of that item's branch and so on and so forth.
For example, take $/Project/A/, which has some sub-folders, files, versions, etc. Next, create $/Project/A-branch/ through a branch operation. The history may vary on what is exported:
If an export is made of $/Project/, and then imported, all of the history on any objects found in $/Project/ will be available on the import. This would include all of the history in $/Project/A/ and history in $/Project/A-branch/
If an export is made of $/Project/A-branch/, this would only include the history that occurred in that sub-folder, at the point of where $/Project/A-branch/ came into existence, that would be seen as an 'add' operation as the point of origin of the export did not include the branched information.

Re: Export/Import tool does not include history
Hello jclausius. Thank you for the response.
I exported projects directly and it has no branches and it didn't come from a branch. But it just doesn't include the history during export/import.

Re: Export/Import tool does not include history
That doesn't seem correct.
Can you elaborate on the steps you used to create the folder export? Do you have the Vault .vfe file generated from export could send to 'support AT sourcegear DOT com' for evaluation?

Re: Export/Import tool does not include history
1. I opened Vault Folder Export / Import
2. Logged in using admin account
3. Selected Folder to export. e.g. $/ProjectA
4. Exported to a .vfe file
5. Chose a different repository
6. Import the .vfe file
Alright. Will do. Thank you.

Re: Export/Import tool does not include history
This issue was resolved offline. There is a bug in Vault Folder Export 10.0.0/10.0.1 which records incorrect CRC information in the export file. This is seen by the following type of log entries in the Vault Server log:
VaultFileUploadHandler.ashx encountered: FailDeltaApply
Uncaught Exception: 2001 : FailDeltaApply
This will be fixed in the upcoming Vault 10.0.2 release. If interested, there is a pre-release Vault 10.0.2 client available by contacting us at 'support AT sourcegear DOT com'
