Vault 9.1 Add Files/Folders Issue
Since the 9.1 upgrade, when I try to add a file to Vault by right clicking on a folder in the directory tree and selecting Add Files/Folders the popup screen doesn’t take me directly to the folder I clicked on, rather takes me back to Root Working Folder and I have to navigate back to the folder I wanted to add from.
Previously the popup screen would start from the folder I right clicked on. Can you restore that functionality in a future release?

From which version of Vault did you upgrade?
At what level is the working folder set?

Re: Vault 9.1 Add Files/Folders Issue
We upgraded from 8.0.1 to 9.1
We usually set the working folder as close to the root as possible and then check the "Foce all subfolders to use inherited working folder."
Example:
$/HDMS_DartLoad (root)
---customers <-- Set working folder here
---vendors <-- Set working folder here
---standard <-- Set working folder here

When you are right-clicking a folder and selecting Add, does that folder exist on disk?
In your exampl above, if you right clicked customers and selected Add, does the customers folder exist on disk? If it's not there, then it will go up the tree until it finds something that exists.
Where are the working folders located? Are they network shares? Are UNC paths used?

Re: Vault 9.1 Add Files/Folders Issue
Yes the folder exists. For the example we have a windows samba drive F:\code\
So
$/HDMS_DartLoad (root)
---customers <-- F:\code\hdmsdartload\customers
---vendors <-- F:\code\hdmsdartload\vendors
---standard <-- F:\code\hdmsdartload\standard
All 3 we check the box to force subfolders to inherit
Then under vendors
vendors\clienta\stuff\things <-- The directory exists as F:\code\hdmsdartload\vendors\clienta\stuff\things
They want to add a folder called "done" it exists as :
F:\code\hdmsdartload\vendors\clienta\stuff\things\done
Right click on" F:\code\hdmsdartload\vendors\clienta\stuff\things" to Add and it takes you to the Add GUI which starts at F:\code. The user has to then drill down to the "things" folder and then select the "done" folder to add it.
The user said in v 8.0.1, the Add GUI would start at whatever directory you right clicked on. Now it brings you all the way back up to the root F:\code.
So
$/HDMS_DartLoad (root)

Re: Vault 9.1 Add Files/Folders Issue
I checked with Vault 9.1.0 with a Samba share and can't reproduce. I think we'll need to look a little closer.

The user has found the problem. It is not with the client. I'm sorry for wasting your time. Please close the issue and burn it if you'd like.
Thanks!

Re: Vault 9.1 Add Files/Folders Issue
NEW UPDATE
It is only happening when we use an absolute path to the folder
ex. \\server\folder\a\b\c
We use vault to navigate to the project path, select folder "c" , right click , and Add File/Folder.
Then the Add GUI shows up and instead of starting at \\server\folder\a\b\c, it always starts at \\server\folder
Lettered drives work fine in that they start out at F:code\folder\a\b\c .
Now, you are going to ask if previous versions had that functionality. I don't know for certain as I don't use the Add GUI. But based on 4 complaints in a week, I'm guessing YES.
I have told them to create a drive letter for their working directories for now. Can you check this out and log it to be fixed?

Eric,
There was an issue with UNC based paths that has been corrected. If it is becoming a nuisance, there is an 'unofficial' release with the fix. Contact support AT sourcegear DOT com for addt'l info.

Re: Vault 9.1 Add Files/Folders Issue
After some more thought, I have a question.
Since there is currently a working folder set, are files being added from under sub-folders of the folder where 'add' was invoked? If so, have you looked at the 'Detect New Files/Folders' command within Vault 9.x?
