Vault 7 Pro to Vault 8 Standard

Post by ajj3085 » Thu Jan 22, 2015 12:04 pm

I want to update to the latest Vault version which was just released, however I'm not using the item tracking features anymore so would like to go to the standard version. How do I accomplish this? Install Vault 8 Pro, uninstall, then re-install Standard?

To switch from Vault Professional to Vault Standard
  • Backup all your Vault databases (sgvault, sgmaster, sgdragnet, sgnotify, sgvaultindex).
  • If you have Shadow Folders, backup your web.config file found in vaultservice/vaultshadowfolder.
  • Uninstall Vault Professional 7.x, but choose the option to keep the database.
  • Open SQL Server Management Studio and delete the sgdragnet database.
  • Install Vault Standard 8.0 and allow it to use the databases it finds.
  • Have users uninstall their Vault Professional clients and install the Vault 8.0 Standard client.
  • If users use Vault integrated with Visual Studio, they will need to rebind their projects. There are two KB articles you can reference; http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic ... 13&t=18991&, and http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic ... 13&t=18956
For anyone coming from older versions of Vault Professional who might be reading this, refer to the Upgrading Guide.
