I'm currently running Vault Standard 5.1.1 under Windows 8.0. I've rejected every offer that Microsoft has presented for upgrading to 8.1 because I have a vague recollection that Vault Standard 5.1.1 doesn't like Windows 8.1. Looking at your compatibility chart (which seems to be just for the server?) it says 5.1.1 doesn't like Windows 8 or 8.1 at all, but I've been running it under 8.0 for a long time.
Today Microsoft force-fed me 8.1 without giving me any options. I'm one restart away from having Windows 8.1. Am I going to have trouble with Vault Standard 5.1.1 once Microsoft shoves 8.1 down my throat without my permission?
I don't think I can upgrade to 7.x because you don't support our SQL Server or Windows version on the server side. That will require a lot more work than resisting Microsoft's advances on the client side.

I'll install it on a Windows 8.1 machine quick and see what it does.

Re: Vault Std 5.1.1 and Windows 8.1
I had to get the 2.0 and 3.5 .net frameworks installed on the machine first. Once I had those, Vault 5.1.2 installed. I checked just a couple of functions and nothing crashed. I don't have VS on that machine to try it with.
What you will probably want to do is make sure you have a rollback point set so that you can get back to where you started if you wished.

Re: Vault Std 5.1.1 and Windows 8.1
Thanks for your help, Beth. I'll see if I can figure out how to save a rollback point then let Microsoft inflict its will upon me.
