soscmd unix howto

I'm trying to get soscmd to work with ubuntu.

I downloaded soscmd through this link: http://download-us.sourcegear.com/files ... 2_i386.deb

Extracted soscmd and sos by itself to a folder, and type in something like:

soscmd -command GetDatabases -server xxx.xxx.xx.xx:xxxx
or
soscmd GetDatabases -server xxx.xxx.xx.xx:xxxx

Either way I do it, I get:
sosmd: Command not found.

To make sure the terminal is recognizing soscmd, I typed "file soscmd" and it returns:
soscmd: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.2.0, stripped

What version of Ubuntu are you using?

What exactly did you use for doing that? Did you just double-click and allow Ubuntu to do the install, or did you use a specific command, or something else?

Also, did you change directories to the folder you installed to? When I installed, by default the program went to /usr/bin, so I ran it from there.

I run Ubuntu 12.04 on a virtual machine, and I use windows 7 x64. I used a windows program called 7zip to extract the soscmd and sos (copied sos just incase). Copy/paste the files onto the VM.

My understanding of soscmd is its suppose to be standalone. I can get soscmd.exe to run on a windows machine just fine. But not Ubuntu.

Instead of extracting in Windows first, just get the .deb file onto your Ubuntu machine and then double-click it. Ubuntu will take care of the rest.
