Best Upgrade Path SG Fortress to Vault 7

Hello,

We currently have SourceGear Fortess 2.04 installed and would like to move to using Vault Pro 7. We want to install Vault Pro on a new system if possible and import the Fortress Information. Will that work?

Backup your Fortress databases: sgvault, sgmaster and sgdragnet.

Then restore backups of the databases to the new SQL Server. Install VaultPro on the new machine and point the installer to the SQL Server location. The installer will install Vault Pro and upgrade the databases.

Since you are a few versions out of date, we recommend you upgrade in stages:

1) What would be the best intermediate steps to upgrade to
2) Where would I download them.
3) I am planning to use the same SQL Server location, so would I need to install the version of Fortress that I am currently running on the new application server and just point it to the existing database? Then upgrade from there?

See the compatibility chart to make sure Vault is supported in your environment as you upgrade. You may need to upgrade part of the way on your existing OS, then install later versions of Vault Pro on the new OS.

* Vault Pro 6.1
* Vault Pro 7.1
