The Vault 7 client installed with no errors on my Windows 8.1 machine, but every time I try to connect to the vault, the client displays a "Windows Client has Stopped Working" message.
Does the Vault 7 client work with Windows 8.1? I know the compatibility sheet says it works with Windows 8, but we have found many things work in Windows 8 but not 8.1.
Can anyone advise on this issue.
Thanks
Brian
Vault 7.0 Client on Windows 8.1
Re: Vault 7.0 Client on Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 was released after Vault 7, so we did not have an opportunity to thoroughly test Vault 7 on Windows 8.1. For that reason it's not fully supported. Full support will come in Vault 7.1, our next release.
I have installed VaultPro 7.0 client on a Windows 8.1 64-bit virtual machine and connected to our demo server, vaultprodemo.sourcegear.com. I was able to add, checkout and get files with no problems.
Not sure why your client is getting errors. Can you connect to our vaultprodemo.sourcegear.com demo server? Log in as guest1, password guest1. Does that work?
Any errors in the Vault GUI Client log (in your user's temp directory, %temp%) or in the Windows Event viewer when your client crashes? The client log is called vaultguiclient.txt.

One of our support staff experienced a similar error.
Try turning off the Vault Client splash screen. The setting is in the Windows 8.1 registry under this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SourceGear\VaultPro\Client\Settings
Look for ShowSplash and change the setting to False.

Thanks for the update. That's good news. : )
We'll take a closer look at this for Vault 7.1.
