Client Upgrade Question

Post by idselectronics » Fri May 24, 2013 8:33 am

We are prepping to (finally) upgrade from Server 5.1.2 to 6.1. I understand that this will require all vault clients to be upgraded to 6.1, as well. I just want to know if I should expect user settings to be reset when they are upgraded. Specifically, working folders and automatic logins. Also, should the upgrades be performed on top of existing installations? Thanks.

Another question just occurred to me that I don't believe was mentioned specifically in the KB article on upgrading to server 6.x: will it be ok to perform the upgrade if there are projects with files checked out?

Upgrading the client by installing the new version over the previous version should preserve settings.

Many settings are stored in the Vault database or in the client-side cache, and are not changed.

You can upgrade Vault Server and database while files are checked out. Checkouts are stored in the database.
