Sorting Summary views in IE
Sorting Summary views in IE
We have just upgraded to version 6.0.1 and are now having problems sorting the by the column headings in IE. It works fine in Firefox.
For example if I go to the At a glance summary view and then select the unresolved items for a particular mile stone I get a page with (in this particular case) 41 items on it, if I then select the Status header to sort them I get the Loading busy box and nothing happens.
I get the following line in the server log:
2012-10-18 17:08:07.621 desktop10.paragon.pgn (192.168.97.38)-ian : Server error 500 Invalid viewstate. Any ideas as to what the problem is? I get the same results on different machines and as different users.

Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
What is your operating system and the version of IE you are using?
Are all users on the same OS and version of IE?

Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
Sorry I should have said
IE9 on Windows 7,
We also have an issue with the search box disappearing after you have done a search, so you cant do another search, again this works fine in Firefox (16.0.1).

Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
I can't seem to reproduce this in IE9 on Windows 7. I can make a different error happen with IE7 on Windows XP, but looks unrelated.
Is anything else using the port 58039 or 8080?
What happens if you try IE right on the server machine and use localhost? Can you sort columns then?

Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
Hi Beth,
it seems to work Ok on the server but the server is running Windows Server 2003 sp2 and IE8, it only seems to be an issue with IE9 as Firefox on the same systems works fine.
As far as I can tell only vault is using port 8080 and I can't see connections on the other port.
Rgrds Ian.

Any thoughts?

Are your Windows 7 machines 32-bit or 64-bit?
Do you have more than 1000 open items?

Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
Win 7 64bit, I've tried it in IE9 and IE9 64bit with the same results.
Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
Do you have anything with more information in your Event Viewer on your local machines?
Does any error show up in your Vault server log when you get the error in IE9?
Do you have different security based on the URL used? Have your users try variants of the server name, or the IP address, or the FQDN in the address used to access Vault.

Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
OK I've done some more investigation, using the FQN for the Vault Server works, and I don't get the hang when sorting columns any more, why this makes a difference I don't know.
I've also discovered that somehow the Index, notification and shadow folders services, had be set to use the wrong user in their app pools, the vault service was correctly using our domain service account but the the others were trying to use "Network Service" this won't work on our system as the database is on a separate machine and so we needed to use the domain service account to connect to the database. I don't know how this could of happened as I was expecting the install to use the existing logins when we did the upgrade.

Re: Sorting Summary views in IE
The difference I think is going to be a security setting somewhere.
On the upgrade, it still has you choose what you want Vault to run under. The part on the user setting might take more investigation. Can you send me your vault_install.log from %temp%?
That email can go to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth). If you include a link to this forum thread, I'll know what it goes to.
