Linda:

Please disregard the previous sent email. I was able to install using the command prompt.
Yes, my database is on a different server.
While this was successful, and when I launch the Vault Admin tool, I get connection failure.
Only way I can get it to work is use SQL sa. Why is this so as my support team does not want to use sa account to install.

Advise?

Can you tell me what the sgvaultuser password is? As when I install using SQL, the password is encrypted.

In most cases it's the same as the Vault admin password.

What error are you getting when you try to connect to the server when you using Windows authentication?

I'd suggest we schedule a remote assist session where I can take a closer look. Email me at support at sourcegear.com, ATTN: Linda.

In order to use Windows Authentication for installing Vault, do the following:
Add user "domain\Web server name where you are installing Vault to\$" as DBOwner to database sgvault and and sgmaster.

You can add this user BEFORE or AFTER the installation. IF the SGVault\SGMaster database's already exist, then execute the above BEFORE installing Vault. Otherwise when you try and connect to the Vault Admin tool URL as admin, you will fail because the domain\servername\$ does not have access to Vault.

Just an update for some other user cases, some users may see "machine name\system account$" as the account that Vault runs under on a Windows Vista or higher machine. This is sometimes caused by not having enough rights during the install. Running a command prompt as administrator and then running the install from the command prompt can help.

btd: Thank you for the update on your case.
