How to ignore .DS_store files on Mac systems?
Hello,
I have tried to add an item "DS_Store" in the file suffix filters list but it seems not working.
Is this a bug?
C.K.

Yes, that looks like a bug.
Yeah, that looks like a bug. If I set DS_Store as a suffix in
the file filter list, it will ignore xxx.DS_Store, but not the .DS_Store
dot file.
I'll log this.
Sorry,
jeff

DId this ever get resolved? I'm using the latest version of your product (3.3.0 1001) and it doesn't seem to be fixed.

Sorry, but no, not yet.
3.3.0 is the most recent release. Hopefully, 3.4.0 will have that fix.
(But I don't have an ETA for that yet.)
Again, sorry.

Re: How to ignore .DS_store files on Mac systems?
Not sure if this will help the cause of this request or not, since the initial request was posted in 2008, with no obvious progress on it, but I'll try anyway...
What if this request was generalized to add one more filter to the Folder Filters. So, in addition to the existing File Suffix Filter and Sub-folder Filter, there would be one more filter called Filename Filter, where the user would specify a list of file names to skip during the diffing operation. Examples of files that would be put in this list are: .DS_Store, core (multi-megabyte core dump files that certain programs leave behind as they crash), etc. Of course, a deluxe version of this would be to allow the file names to contain wildcard characters (e.g. *core to match octave-core, etc.). But at this point, the basic version would be perfectly fine for most uses...
BTW, I completely understand that the developers would want to see a certain level of interest before they are moved to implement proposed feature requests. I'm just trying to widen the interest in this subject by proposing a generalization to it.
Thanks.

Finder on the Mac creates .DS_Store files everywhere. This will help out anyone developing ratpack on a mac as these files will no longer show up in git status. Ignore .DS_Store files that Finder on the Mac drops everywhere

Re: How to ignore .DS_store files on Mac systems?
I would also find this a very helpful change. We use Surround as our source control provider and it creates a file by the name of .MySCMServerInfo in each directory within the repository structure. I was really hoping to be able to exclude those files in a folder diff, only to find this thread, which is sadly already quite old.
Please consider fixing this bug, so that the filter does not require there to be any letters before the period.
Thanks,
- Ken

Re: How to ignore .DS_store files on Mac systems?
Since this has been one of our most frequent questions/requests
I thought I replay here and say that this has been addressed in 4.0.0
which we just released.
