Waiting 2s after each keystroke with Vault !!

Post by Xavier » Thu Sep 20, 2012 2:38 am

Hello,

we're still waiting for a fix of the plug in. It's awful to work everyday with the source control being so slow, when can you provide a fix or at least a work around ??

Hiding the Vault toolbar helped, but as soon as we display a contextual menu to show history, check in, ... we have to wait 2 or 3s again.

Please consider this urgent. We're losing a LOT OF TIME, because of this. It's depressing to work that way. With no turning back...

Thanks

Xavier

We have had a handful reports of this slowdown in Visual Studio, but have not been able to reliably reproduce this in-house.

We do very much want to pin down what is causing this for those users.

I will be sending you a list of questions about your Visual Studio configuration. We hope to find a "common denominator" for these cases so we can fix the slowdown.

If other users are experiencing slower than usual performance in Visual Studio since upgrading to Vault 6, we'd like to hear from you and we'll send you our list of configuration questions.

We haven't done anything further because the last report we had from you was that Visual Studio was working fine, and we haven't had new reports of slowness.

What's different about this user's setup and machine?

Are other users working in Visual Studio with this same VS project without slowdowns?

I'll send you the list of questions for details about the user's configuraiton.

We've activated notifications (still with errors)... could this be the cause ?

Your notification server was generating errors, so if it is having problems connecting to Vault Server -- it might be possible.

You can turn off the notification attempts. I'll send you a query to do this.

Only "our" acces is https based, I've now changed every other setting to http://localhost knowing these only are server redirection and not used outside. If they are only used from the server, then why not use a relative path or always http ?

Seems OK right now.

I also tried to remove inactive plugins, but it failed (from SQL Management).

It's still awfully slow. Please, help !!

For information, I've activated debug server logs, and there is nothing for 3 minutes around the moment the GUI was blocked.

Our Visual Studio developer is looking at configuration information you sent us earlier.

Does the slowdown come and go? In some of our communication, you have mentioned that things are working fine.

Are all developers using Visual Studio having a slowdown?

Hi

we made many changes (plugins adresses, web.config, then reactivating notifications) after it worked by disabling double plugins; I didn't ask every one just notice that on my system and another. I'll ask.
