Upgrading from Vault Pro 5.1.2 to version 6.0

Post by lharker@aocweb.org » Mon Aug 13, 2012 12:09 pm

I am trying to upgrade from Vault Pro 5.1.2 to the new version 6. When do in the upgrade I get an error: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". According the the Event Viewer the installer received an error 1722. Vault Pro no longer works on this server, so I need help quick.

Can you tell me at which point the installer stopped? 1722 is a general error. Prior to that error should be something that says what the problem is.

Can you run the install again and post a screenshot showing where in the install it ends?

Do you get as far as connecting to the database?

Do you have the 4.0 .NET framework installed?

Is your SQL Server at SQL 2005 or higher?

I did not get to the point of connecting to the database.

We are running SQL Server 2008 std

Yes we have the DotNetFramework 4 installed.

Did you download the installer straight to the server or copy it across the internal network? I've seen .msi files sometimes transfer better when pulled down directly to the machine you need to run them on, rather than pulled to a different machine and copied across the internal network. There was something I read about that ages ago as well, but don't recall the reason behind it. If you haven't already, try downloading the .msi from our website directly to your server.

When you're ready to run the installer again, use the following instructions to run it:
1) In the same location as the installer, create a text file and call it MSIlog.txt.

2) Find your command prompt icon in the start menu of your computer, right-click it, and select Run as Administrator. Perform this action even if you are already an administrator.

3) In the command line window, change directories to the location of your installer using.

4) Run the following command:

Code: Select all

msiexec /i "VaultProServer64_6_0_0_30477.msi" /l "MSIlog.txt"
5) The installer should start and go through the install as normal. If it fails again, then I'd like to have you send me an email with the log files. Send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread, and include both the MSIlog.txt and the vault_install.log that should be found in %temp% on the machine you are installing on.
