feature request

Post by treehousetim » Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:44 am

Other diff/merge programs I've used offer the ability when doing a folder diff to copy files from left to right if they are only on the left side. This is such a needed feature I recently booted up my windows vista pc just to be able to use winmerge for this very feature.

This is the biggest hole in functionality, in my opinion, in DiffMerge.

Also, I've been anxiously awaiting the ability to ignore my .DS_Store folders on my mac for over a year now - I saw that's on the list for the next version - any eta on that?

Thanks so much for this wonderful free product - I use it nearly every day.

Regards,

Tim Gallagher

Thanks for your feedback!

We do have feature request 12296 logged for the ability to copy files from one side to the other in DiffMerge. I've added you comments to the item. It will be evaluated for an upcoming release of Vault.

This work item (14056) is still scheduled for DiffMerge 3.4, but we don't have a release date as yet.

This would be a huge value add. SourceSafe had this feature and we used it all the time. It's much easier than a "detect missing" operation, that developers frequently forget to do.

If I do a folder level DIFF and get a list of differemces, I'd expect to be able to get/copy/delete at the file level from the results window. Has this been released yet?

The ability to do various file operations from the folder diff window
is on my TODO list. And yeah, they'd be really nice to have.
But unfortunately, I haven't gotten to them yet.

Sorry,
jeff
