Problems with Checking out/Checking in

Post by daniel.clark@bluesky » Fri Feb 10, 2012 8:46 am

Hi,
A colleague of mine has just started using the Vault. He checked out a file to use, edited it and then when he went to check it in it wouldnt let him. Looking at his vault today it doesnt even say its checked out anymore? Also if he tries editing any file now it brings up a message asking him what he wants to open in, rather than the normal display that comes up. Can anyone suggest any solution?

Take a look at the history on that file. Does it show a check in for that user?

Is it possible that the administrator forced an undo check out from the Vault admin web page?

When your user tries to edit a file, is he opening it from Windows Explorer or from inside Vault or inside of Visual Studio?

No it does not show a check in. Actually looking this morning from my vault it now says checked out by that user. However he still cannot check it in / edit anything else and this is from within the vault?

Have the user try renaming his cache . Details on how to do that can be found here: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic ... 13&t=11513.

After the cache is cleared have the user reset his working folders (unless he went the route of keeping those as explained in the article above).

Next, perform a Get Latest with the option "Do Not Overwrite/Merge Later" selected.

What can the user do after that?
