Turning Off Vault

Post by muppal » Fri Jan 20, 2012 10:07 am

We have some scheduled maintance on the server which Vault resides...how do I 'turn off' Vault so users are not attempting to access, while the server maintenance is taking place?

Here are some options:
  • -You can stop the website Vault is installed under using the IIS Manager on the server, or
    - Use the Vault admin web page to revoke all user's access to Vault. You can either make them all inactive or just remove their rights to repositories.
    - Recycling the VaultAppPool in the server's IIS Manager will disconnect the users. They can still reconnect, but it would perform an initial stop to continuous work.

If the IIS is stopped, will this also prevent users from accessing Vault via thier local Vault Client?

Yes, if IIS is completely stopped, no one will be able to connect to Vault using neither the web client nor the Vault GUI client. You don't need to completely stop IIS though. Just stopping the one website is enough to accomplish the same thing.
