Annoying Delete Dialog
Annoying Delete Dialog
Ever since we upgraded to the latest release of Vault Professional, a dialog pops up to make us confirm that we want to delete files from source control. This is very annoying because in a web project, if I delete an ASP.NET page it has three files associated with it (markup, code behind, and designer). This confirmation dialog pops up for each file. This dialog was never displayed before. How do we disable it?
Re: Annoying Delete Dialog
Are you performing the delete from inside Visual Studio? If so, which version of VS are you using, and are you bound to the Vault Classic Client or the Vault Enhanced Client?

I am performing the delete inside of Visual Studio 2010 (w/ SP1). We use the Vault Professional Enhanced Client.

This dialog showed up when we upgraded to the latest version several months ago.

Re: Annoying Delete Dialog
Are you using Delete or Exclude?
In Vault 5.1.2, we added a dialog box to confirm.
From Vault 5.1.2 Release Notes:
Visual Studio Enhanced Client
Exclude from Project within Visual Studio now prompts before deleting any file from disk.

Re: Annoying Delete Dialog
I've now reproduced what you are seeing.
There isn't a way to turn that off currently. I'll put in a feature request to allow that dialog to be turned off.

Re: Annoying Delete Dialog
Thanks. This is particularly burdensome when working in large web projects as the confirmation occurs three separate times when deleting a web page (code behind, markup, and designer). Making this a configuration option to turn on or off is ideal. Thanks!

Re: Annoying Delete Dialog
This is driving me nuts!
I'm trying to reorganise a web project, including deleting folders of images.
When I try and delete a folder of images, it takes ages for a delete prompt to appear (2-3 secs) per file.
When you have 30 images in a folder, it takes a silly amount of time, it's really slowing me down.
Could you bump this up the priority list a bit? The original enhancement as described in the release notes was not supposed to cause this behaviour was it?

Re: Annoying Delete Dialog
This dialog is incredibly annoying. Can this be fixed in Vault 5.x? I don't want to upgrade to a new major version for the sole reason of fixing this major annoyance, when I see no feature in 6.x worth the time, effort, and money for an upgrade. Anything to turn this off would be appreciated-- checkbox, registry hack(save yourselves the work of the GUI for the checkbox), etc.lbauer wrote:The delete dialog behavior is changing for Vault 6.0.
Pretty please.
Thanks.
